For many who know Matt and me well, the Philippines is one of our favourite destinations for beach weddings and honeymoons. Ever since we discovered this island paradise in Southeast Asia, we never fail to return each year, mostly thanks to its beautiful beaches and friendly locals. We loved it so much that we even did our wedding photoshoots there! Our many trips have led us to Manila, Cebu, and Boracay. This time, we finally had an opportunity to visit the world-famous Palawan to check it out for a wedding and honeymoon destination.

Repeatedly named as the ‘Best Island in the World’, Palawan is an archipelago of tropical islands that has been described as ‘rustic’, ‘romantic’, ‘affordable’, ‘relaxing’, and even ‘the single most beautiful place on earth’. This idyllic spot in the world is home to pristine beaches, mesmerizing sunsets, glorious landscapes and breathtaking wildlife and marine life. For those familiar with the popular Discovery Shores in Boracay, in this issue, we will take you to explore its sister resort in Coron, Palawan – Club Paradise. On the island, be treated to delicious cuisines that will leave your taste buds wanting more. The Firefish Restaurant serves up succulent spreads that include local and international favourites. My favourite was their Aglio Olio and their Black Pepper Crab – I could not stop ordering it each day. It is definitely a must-try! Dishes are reasonably priced too.

On selected days, you can also enjoy entertainment and cultural performances. During our stay, the island staff went around the tables to sing and play music for diners – the lady singer was extremely talented and I really admired her charming voice!

Wine at cocktails can also be enjoyed at Dugong Bar. You can also play billiards, table tennis or foosball over drinks! It is a great spot for your guests to bond and unwind after the celebrations.

4. Comfortable living in traditional-styled huts

Modelled after traditional huts, staying at Club Paradise was true to the island experience. It was relaxing to be right next to the beach and the soothing waves. On top of that, it was a very comfortable experience. You get spacious living space befitted with modern amenities and furnishings that make for a relaxing stay. The bed is the hallmark of their room, for it was so huge it could sleep up to 4 persons with enough space to spare. I believe it is a super king size! It even came with 9 pillows, a first that I’ve experienced! Needless to say, it was super luxe and incredible. Getting out of this bed was tough. After all the hectic wedding preparations, lying here and relaxing for your honeymoon is probably the most comforting experience you can enjoy.

We stayed at the Sunset Villa that came with a veranda facing the calming beach. We could just walk right onto the beach whenever we felt like it. The hammock at the veranda was perfect for quiet relaxing, and you are accompanied with soothing sounds of the waves and a beautiful view of nature. On our arrival, we were both given a foot massage as a welcoming gesture!

5. Enjoy service that’s all heart

There was something special about Club Paradise. Apart from the peaceful surroundings, beautiful views of nature and comfortable amenities,  you get to enjoy the iconic Filipino hospitality – warm and endearing service. We really appreciated the island staff always going the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. The service provided by Club Paradise is polite and sincere, leaving you with a cozy feeling reminiscent of home.

On top of the warm welcome and cheerful smiles, the island staff of Club Paradise were very meticulous in their service. During our visit, they arranged for a private dinner by the beach. This dinner is perfect for celebrating an intimate moment together during your honeymoon. We had a dedicated staff on standby to help serve us whatever we needed. The entire dining experience felt very special. At Club Paradise, special occasions here are made extra special. In-room dining is also available and you can enjoy your meals from the comfort of your room or alfresco at your veranda.

6. Pamper and relax yourselves

During your honeymoon, spend time enjoying the facilities in Club Paradise. Lounge at the swimming pool and soak up the sunshine with drinks from the beach bar, have a workout at the tennis or basketball court, and unwind the day with a relaxing spa session at Glow Spa. An hour massage here will have you feeling rejuvenated in no time!

For couples who love to seek adventure, there are many island tours for your exploration. Be sure to go on the iconic Coron Island Tour to tour the signature attractions of Coron like Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon. You can simply arrange for your tours at the front desk. During our visit, we went for a private island tour that included a picnic at Diatoy Island. If you seek privacy and exclusive moments, that will make a great tour for you as it will just be the two of you on an entire island, enjoying the breeze, eating light snacks, and snorkelling in the waters. 

Nature-lovers are bound to adore Club Paradise. Spend 20-30 minutes hiking up to Eagle’s Point, the island’s highest peak for a stunning view overlooking the island and its surrounding. Enjoy the abundant lush greenery on the way up and discover animals in their natural habitats. You can do this hike just before sunset for even more mesmerizing views.
