Experience The Wedding Village 2013 @ Suntec City

Hello lovely TWV readers! I’m back again to feature another Wedding Fair I attended in late July this year- The Wedding Village! I met this lovely wedding planner Ying Ying from Butterflies and Cakes (the organizer of the event), and she kindly invited me to head down to have a peek! This is the first large-scale exhibition wedding fair to be opened to the public. I think they received such a great response from both vendors and the public that they’re going to be organizing their second edition coming December! Check it out on our events page here. It was an eye-opener! If you guys have been to the Expo for food fairs, this was something like it, just that all booths are filled with wedding vendors looking to share with you what they do! If you guys hadn’t managed to check it out, I hope from my blogpost you guys can feel like you were there to see it for yourself! So read on and enjoy! :) The lamps kinda made me feel like I was back in Europe! <3

First up, let me share a little about the organizer of the event- Butterflies and Cakes Productions. For those who caught my blogpost for my experience at Mason’s wedding fair here, you’ll know that they’re a one-stop shop for all your wedding planning needs. They’ll be happy to hold your hand all the way from pre-wedding to post-wedding, so you’ll be sure to make the best decisions for your big day. How awesome is that! Their set up was featuring cherry blossoms. I can’t wait till I get to see the real ones in Korea / Japan during the season. Super romantic!

Butterflies also runs a subsidiary, Unique Tiffany Chairs, a chair rental company specializing in tiffany chairs. I think these Tiffany chairs look really classy, yet the wooden ones have a vintage flair to them.

Their co-organizer of the event is UTC events, an event planning and management company that provides props, lighting and sound system rental services. With these props, you could even have a star awards night for your wedding, haha!

The whole event set up was pretty nicely done up. Their walkways were Parisian and garden themed. Check out the entrance!

We got there on Friday so there wasn’t a big crowd (yet), which I’m always a fan of. I don’t fancy squeezing down the walkways all that much haha. The showcase of vendors featured a spread of wedding-related services like food catering, wedding decor, photographers and photobooths, live music and more! Walking through the walkways was such a delight. You kinda feel like a princess.

Now let me share some of my favourite vendors with you! :)

1. KOMBI ROCKS

Walking down the walkways I ended up at Kombi Rock’s booth. The first time I heard of Kombi was through my friend, Swen’s cafe blog. She featured them as one of the top 10 cafes to visit for Valentine’s Day! They displayed one of their signature volkswagen vans, which I was TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH. <3 They name their vehicles, and this one’s Sugar Baby. You can check out their fleet at their vintage diner and their rental rates here. Their website is super funky. I’m definitely dropping by their diner one of these days!

2. MR BROWNEZ

This booth was giving out free brownie samples- IKR, how could anyone resist? Haha I’m not really a big fan of brownies cause they’re too rich in flavour for me. BUT. This. One. Was. Awesome. It tasted just right, and guess what’s the best thing? The lovely shop owner said that he bakes each and everyone himself! No trans fat, no preservatives and no junk. Plus, they have red velvet with cream cheese frosting, the most popular cupcake flavour ever. But what really caught my eye was their lovely packaging. Apart from their funky logo, they really know how to doll up a gift of awesome chocolately brownies for your loved ones! A box of dozen cost $60, a 6-pack for $32, their signature sampler of 4 goes at $25 and a perfect pair at $12.50. It isn’t cheap, but full of homemade love and you can be assured of their quality control since every single one comes out of their own oven. Go grab some!

3. EXPRESS-OH! PHOTOGRAPHY

I got to meet a really friendly photographer from Express-Oh! He shared with us their expertise, which I was totally fascinated by. They do underwater shots!!! In my opinion, I think that’s a mega supreme high level type of shot, because everything that happens underwater works by Murphy’s Law- everything that can go wrong will go wrong. There are tons of things to worry about during the shot, like hairdo going all crazy and covering your face, makeup smudging, the gown flaring up and you risk exposing yourself. Plus there’s the most important part, BREATHING. But despite the challenge, these experts from the team at Express-Oh! manage to capture such amazing photos like these.

Basically to derive such unique shots which will make everyone basically go “OOOH and AHHHH” in envy, you have to dedicate time for underwater training with them. But no worries, they’re so friendly you’ll have a blast doing it. They were sweet to send over their price lists after the event too!

4. MULTIFOLDS PHOTOGRAPHY

Multifolds is on my Facebook newsfeed, and I always love looking at their lovely shots. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to speak to Melvin, their photographer / founder and MD, as he was so preoccupied attending to the couples who were gonna get their photos done (really shows how popular he is!), but a lady was sooo sweet to come up to us to offer us his namecard and a cupcake! Apart from wedding shots, they also engage in baby shoots! Check out their list of partners! Plus the awards they’ve received at the back!

5. SHIRLEY’S SWEETS

BY THE WAY, I have to rave about the cupcake. It was REALLY awesome. I’m a big fan of cupcakes, plus recently there’s been many cupcake stores popping up in the commercial market. Even That CD Shop started a High Society cafe selling cupcakes and macarons. But this cupcake was really special. I almost can’t describe it. The cake part of it was really moist, and the texture was soft yet firm. Okay, you have got to try it for yourself. The cupcakes are by Shiberty’s Sweets, and even though they didn’t have a booth, they are a partner of Multifolds. Apart from cupcakes, they do big cakes too! Check out their past projects here.

6. WHITE RIBBON LIVE MUSIC

White Ribbon provides live music for wedding and events. The lady in charge was really nice to run us through their package which completely takes care of your entire wedding ceremony, from cocktail reception all the way to when your dinner ends. The unique part of their portfolio is that it comprises of several musicians and vocalists, so they are able to specifically tailor the music to cater to your needs. According to what your preference, whether it’s a 2-piece or a 5-piece band, they can match their artistes to your performance. She also mentioned that they have a saxophonist in their portfolio! I love saxophones, and I doubt many people play them in Singapore because they’re quite an “old” musical instrument. But it’s totally sexy and romantic, which makes perfect for wedding music.

7. THE BUTTER STUDIO

Butter Studio’s set up immediately drew me closer hahaha (I can’t resist cupcakes for nuts). I wish they gave out samples!!! Haha but nonetheless, I was satisfied just looking at them. Their packaging is also really funky, totally lovin’ their logo + yellow colour theme. They actually have an outlet at Changi, I’m so gonna check them out soon to get some.

Catch the dessert bar trend in my previous blogpost here! Butter studio does dessert tables (ranging from $680 – $1180; 20 pax – 70 pax) and cupcake bars ($580 for 20-30 pax), which fits in just right.

8. OBERA DESIGN

I have yet to come across this before! Obera is a bottle engraving and customization service. Basically they do unique word & photo engravings on your wine / liquor bottles. The portraits they do are super realistic too.

If you’re looking for wine catering, Vin’s it. I stopped by their booth and even though the boss wasn’t around, the lady in charge was really sweet to offer us wine samples of their white and red wine selection. You can be assured of good service ;)
