Where to do a Staycation in Singapore

December has arrived!!! So I got inspired to do a staycation post cause it’s totally the latest trend (check out Channel News Asia), plus because our island staycations are so lovely and awfully convenient. Do a staycation for your bachelorette party, honeymoon, a romantic birthday surprise/celebration or for this upcoming Christmas season. Sounds good? Here’re some ideas on where:

1. Sentosa lovin’ for the beach lovers

Whether it’s the luxury intimate resort-styled Capella Hotel, boutique resort Amara Sanctuary, the beachfront Rasa Sentosa, or choose the more chalet-styled Costa Sands Resort, catch some sun, sand and sea beach-lovin’! You’ll be surprised at the million and one things now that you can do on our lovely island! Buy a play pass and go crazy playing. If you’re totally in for a day of action, you both can take the new angry birds cable car across, ride on the luge, segway yourselves everywhere and go on the megazip at the adventure park. If you’re into looking at pretty things and taking lovely photos you can go to the butterfly & Insect kingdom, Underwater World or the Animal & Bird Encounters. Or you can go for virtual 4D magic or go for simulated rides at the CineBlast. You can even catch some flying action or DIY at IFly or fly the Flying Trapeze.  Go take a dip in the sea or catch some surfing action on the waves at Wavehouse. Or opt for a more chillout option, and just hang by the beach on a sandmat, or go up to the SkyLoft for some drinks and watch over all the action happening. You can end off the night with a walk down the beach or Songs by the Sea.

And I just found out that Sentosa’s got a secret hotel that I never knew- Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa (reviews here on tripadvisor and promotions here)! It’s a 5-star set atop a cliff in lush tropical woodlands and water gardens, and has a lovely view of the sea. Check out a staycation blog entry by Rubbish Eat Rubbish Grow on Rasa Sentosa!

2. Swissotel for the city lovers

Stay at one of the tallest hotels in the city, walk the shopping centres @ Raffles City area and soak up the Christmas shopping season. Go on a shopping spree together, buy new clothes for January and your favourite gifts for each other. If you’re into finer dining, catch a meal at Equinox to end off your night.

3. Marina Bay Sands or Ritz Carlton Millennia for the breathtaking-view lovers

Take a dip in the Skypark Infinity pool and catch a breathtaking view of our Marina skyline. You can even catch the Gardens by the bay- cloud forest and flower domes (S$39 deal.sg promotion includes those + Singapore Flyer + Journey of Dreams). Catch a blog review done up by ZhiQiang & Ting Yi on Passport Chop or MadameChewy! Here’s the view from Ritz:

4. Fullerton or Goodwood Park Hotel for the luxury lovers

Have a lovely meal and enjoy the breeze by the Singapore River. Check out some blog photos here by Renzze and Darren Bloggie. Goodwood Park day & night.

Perched on a mini hill, I’ve always thought this beautiful white building looked like a fairytale castle. Like we all know Goodwood’s well known for their mooncakes, I’m sure their xmas goodies are just as *YUMS*. Check them out here by Rubbish Eat Rubbish Grow!

5. Fort Canning for greenery lovers

Leave the concrete jungle and retreat to a garden villa (but not that far away from the urban city in case you change your mind) ;) You can choose to hang around Fort Canning Park, have a picnic and check out our local flora and fauna. There’s a Princess Pond, a butterfly garden and many heritage trees. Every photographer’s haven. Check out a blog post by Catherine Ling on Camemberu.

6. Resorts World Sentosa for the theme park lovers

Catch a Groupon Deal for 2 pax @ $538 and you get to spend 3D2N at any of the 4 RWS hotels. You even get to enjoy 2 tickets to the theme park and scream your lungs out together. I’m sure all the characters will be xmas season lovin’!

Check out what happened last year here– They had SEA’s tallest xmas tree, fairytale characters like Red Riding Hood, Christmas menus @ the F&B outlets, and a visual feast of decorations costing over $2m to set up!

Exciting new stuff like the Adventure Cove Water Park & the S.E.A Aquarium is coming up this December 7 at RWS too! Check it out here.

7. Capri by Fraser for the relaxed domestic lovers

This is interesting and totally caught my eye! It’s a pretty new resident styled hotel located in Changi (yes I know sounds far but it’s worth it when you wanna escape the hustle and bustle of city life and people walking everywhere in every direction), with awesome pampering facilities like the gym, spa & pool. As it’s apartment-styled, there’s also a kitchen available for your cooking treats! For the more relaxed couple, this is the perfect hideout for a weekend. Found a pretty awesome and extensive blog post done by Darren Lim, so you can check that out for more details! I know many peeps think Staycations don’t come cheap, especially when Singapore hotels don’t come cheap. But there are some good deals out there that we just need to keep our eyes wide open for awesome value-for-money (I LOVE VALUE FOR MONEY) deals :D Check out

8. The Quincy Hotel @ Mount Elizabeth, just off Orchard Road (for the all-in-one package Urban lovers)

quincy

The most interesting part about this hotel is that it includes all amenities and services! Check out their unique selling proposition: “From limousine pick-up at the airport, unlimited broadband internet access, local calls and 2-piece laundry service to all meals taken care of – buffet breakfast, set lunch and dinner, and cocktails plus all day coffee and tea, you are assured of all celebrated comforts in a private haven.” WOW. I’m totally won over. And their prices are quite reasonable too! Catch deals here– Book early (14 days before your stay) to get 15% off, or indulge in a weekend staycation with cool activities like baking class and movie nights included from $286-385++! Check out a more detailed blog post by Keropokman or one with many photos by RuffledWhiteskirt!

9. Wanderlust for the contemporary-design lovers

If you’re looking for someplace different in design from the usual hotel layout, check out this boutique hotel called Wanderlust. The rooms are special themed and designed, pretty unique! Have you checked out their website gosh it’s totally new-age. Check out photos here from The Coolist, and check out the cool designs of the brochures and tags here. Also, you can check out a staycation blog review done up by Charlene in MissUsChewy.

10. The Porcelain Hotel in Chinatown for the culture heritage lovers

Modern Chinese lovers will love this, cause the interior design is simply gorgeous and delicately oozing with cultural flavour. Betcha never knew such places existed, cause I totally didn’t until now.
