10 Best CCTV Cameras in Malaysia
1. Arlo PRO 2
The Arlo Pro security camera series is highly rated as one of the best security cameras in 2021 by big-name magazines such as Wirecutter, TechRadar and T3. But despite the latest Pro 3 and Pro 4 model being hardly available in Malaysia, the available model Arlo Pro 2 still has a lot to offer. Its 1080p resolution is crystal clear, with advanced sound and motion detection, and has two-way audio that allows you to speak and hear from your smartphone. On top of that, it also works for indoor and outdoor placement, with a wired and wireless option, and has an advanced night vision for better footage quality. And, it’s rated IP65 which is resistant to all kinds of weather.
The Arlo Pro 2 is a smart security camera, so you can expect integration with Apple Homekit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT and Stringify. On top of that, it also can trigger an alarm with a siren every time a triggered event is detected, and can instantly send the notification to your smartphone. Although it requires an upgraded plan for getting a 24/ CVR, there’s free cloud storage to save the recordings for up to 7 days or you can plug in a USB drive for optional data backup.
Why buy this:
- Clear 1080p video quality
- Good for indoor and outdoor
- Voice command app integration
- Smart security siren
- Free cloud storage for 7 days recordings
Smart CCTV with facial recognition
Named by TechRadar as one of the best security cameras in 2021, the Google Nest Cam has one thing that separates it from the rest: facial recognition. This means you can register familiar faces with Google Home App, and lets the camera notify you when it records a face it doesn’t know. So, you’ll know when someone other than your family is visiting. Apart from that, as expected, it integrates to Google Assistant and can automatically function with voice commands.
Smart function aside, the Google Nest Cam also comes on top when it comes to video quality. The 1080p recording offers clean footage day and night and is supported by H.264 encoding High Dynamic Range (HDR) for better image clarity. Plus, there’s a 3 hours free recording, although you’ll need to pay for a subscription with $6/month fee for more benefits.
What we don’t like about the Google Nest Cam is the built-in battery design, which is less flexible than cameras with a swappable battery, although it still offers a good 7 month maximum battery life (depending on how you use it). And, it’s also weather-resistant and has robust build quality for outdoor uses. So, if the built-in battery doesn’t matter much for you, the Google Nest Cam is definitely one of the best CCTV cameras in Malaysia today.
Why buy this:
- Easy to use and setup
- Facial recognition
- Google Home app integration
- Rechargeable battery
Good value for money
The Anker T8851, or also known as EufyCam 2 Pro, is a great value camera for the price. It offers a great combination of strong battery life, robust build quality and smart features, which is the main reason why Wirecutter added it to their best security camera in the 2021 list. Even at a free plan, you can benefit from 2K video recordings that record any footage with clear results, and a super clear night vision for outdoor placement. Moreover, the Military-Grade encryption also means an uncontested security level against any intruders, while the IP67 rating is one of the best on this list.
The Anker T8851 battery is claimed to last for one year, although for most users it might reduce to 6 to 8 months of life, which is still impressive. The only setback is you’ll need a subscription plan to send your video to the cloud, but it starts at only $3, which is not much of a fee, and the free plan already offered good video quality.
Apart from being a good security camera, the Anker T8851 can also work as a Repeater Mode to extend your home WIFI coverage. This is, of course, a big bonus as buying a dedicated WIFI repeater could cost you half of its price.
Why buy this:
- 2K video quality
- Smart application support
- Strong battery life
- 3 storage options
- Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant
- IP67 waterproof, which is safe even submerged down to 1meter.
A sharp 1080p footage quality
If you like the previous Anker T8851 model, but it’s too expensive, the Anker Eufycam 2C is a great alternative. Featured in T3 as one of the best CCTV cameras in 2021, this Anker model also offers a great value for the price. That includes a sharp 1080p sensor, a wide 135-degree field of view, good night vision, and up to 6 months battery life. And best of all, although there’s no subscription needed, you get free access on the cloud for getting the footage wirelessly or using the 16GB eMMC storage on the Homebase unit.
In addition, the Anker Eufycam 2C is also a great CCTV for outdoor placement, thanks to the IP67 waterproof and decent battery life. Lastly, you can also use Amazon Alexa for voice commands.
Why buy this:
- Good value for money
- No subscription needed
- Sharp 1080p sensor
- IP67 waterproof
- Compatible with Amazon Alexa
A popular choice for a reason
The Xiaomi Mi 2K Pro is the most popular CCTV camera in Malaysia with over 20k sales on Shopee alone, and it’s easy to see why. Although available only at RM235 at the time of writing, this camera offers high-end features that are usually in pricier cameras. That includes 2K resolution recording and a large F1.4 aperture to capture detailed images in low-light conditions, good night vision, as well as human and facial detection.
As if it’s not enough, this Xiaomi model also has a micro SD card slot to locally store your data without any cloud or subs needed, which is a great bargain. Like other good CCTV cameras, it features a two-way microphone, WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity, and a subsribtion plan option for unlocking more smart features.
The setback, however, is it lacks water-resistant capabilities, which is not good news if you’re looking for an outdoor CCTV camera. But if that doesn’t matter for you, it’s definitely one of the best value security cameras you can find today.
Why buy this:
- Affordable for its quality and features
- Good image quality in low-light condition
- WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity
For advanced home security system with 8 sets of camera
Whether you’re planning to install a full set of CCTV camera coverage for your large home or office, the HIK Vision CCTV Set offers great value for money. Offering up to 8 sets of camera packages, each unit is equipped with a built-in shock sensor and ramp loading technology that guarantees durability. It’s a CCTV camera made for heavy-duty uses and is great for those who want to set up a high-security system for their office or home.
HIK Vision offers internal hard disk storage to save your video recordings, and there’s no subscription fee needed for a cloud. Although this could be a hassle when transfering the files to your computer, it’s still a great bargain as you don’t need to pay anything extra.
Why buy this:
- Available in more sets of the camera package
- Heavy-duty material
- Up to 4TB storage capacity option
7. EZVIZ C3A
A good mid-range choice with a long-lasting battery
The EZVIZ C3A is a great mid-range CCTV camera in Malaysia, offering a good combination of value for money and ease of use. While it takes only a few minutes to set up, this security camera is weather-resistant with an IP65 rating and can withstand a temperature between -25°C to 45°C, which is great for outdoor placement. Although there’s no wired option, the 5,500mAh rechargeable battery only requires you to charge it once every few months, which is not too much hassle.
Other notable features are a two-way microphone, clear night vision, 8x zoom capability, and live view from your smartphone through a mobile app. And, although it requires a subscription for storing the videos in the cloud, it features a built-in microSD card slot that can store up to 128GB of files without having to pay a fee.
Why buy this:
- Long-lasting battery
- Built-in microSD card slot
- 8x zoom
- Live view from phone
8. EZVIZ C3W
Best waterproof rating
The C3W series is a cheaper model from the EZVIZ available at just RM399 at the time of writing, yet it still has something to offer. What separates from the rest is the top-notch night vision that can reach up to 30 meters, and the IP66 rating that’s better than most CCTVs in this list. An indeed top-notch camera built for outdoor placement!
Another thing that we like about the EZVIZ C3W is the option to use a microSD Card Slot if you don’t want to pay the subscription fee. And, unlike the previous EZVIZ C3A, you can opt for a wired connection for indoor placement. The EZVIZ C3W is suitable for up to 8 sets of CCTV cameras, and also has intelligent features such as motion detection and instant motion alert.
Why buy this:
- Best waterproof rating
- Night vision up to 30 meters
- MicroSD card slot
- Optional WIFI and ethernet port
9. TP-Link C200
Coming from a brand known for its quality budget products, the TP-Link C200 is a great option if you’re tight on a budget. It has everything you need from a good CCTV camera, from a 1080p recording for clear footage, a motorized pan and tilt option, and motion detection with instant notification on your smartphone. The setback, however, is the lack of image quality in the low-light, and its night vision can only reach for up to 9 meters. Apart from that, it also offers features such as two-way audio, up to 128GB microSD card slot, and integration with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Why buy this:
- Affordable price
- 1080p resolution
- Motorized pan and tilt option
- Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa integration
Mini CCTV camera
This mini camera is smaller than your smartphone, which is great for a hidden camera. But despite its mini size, the GOQ M1 offers features of full-sized CCTV cameras, too. You’ve got a video recording in HD quality, Motion Detection mode with smartphone notification alarm, and a night vision for clearer footage in low-light situations. You can easily snug this mini camera in the corner of your home, and continuously watch the surrounding without the intruder knowing.
Why buy this:
- Very affordable price
- Mini size
- Night vision
