Down-to-earth, home-made quality tarts
With the festive season approaching, Pelynoobakes’ sweets are perfect for stocking up on. The home-based store sells oatmeal cookies, Goldflakes, and Chouquettes, but the Nutella Tarts are their bestseller. This light and buttery tart is like a cookie base with a dollop of pure Nutella on top, and it’s rather addictive. Its richness and creaminess complement the crisp, yet melty “sand” cookie-style crust, which is flecked with a good pinch of salt. The tart itself is not overly brittle and can be picked up, but it simply melts in your mouth with each delightful bite! Pelynoobakes might seem ordinary, without any unique or special ingredients. However, it is their simple and homey nature that makes them so delightful to munch at any time.
While all the bakes are available in single jars or bags, the tarts are also available in bundles of three, five, and ten jars if you want to stock up. Each tub includes 42-46 tarts and should be eaten within 2 weeks of purchase. The delivery charge is $8, but it is waived for orders above $88.

Tarte by Cheryl Koh, a Les Amis Group spin-off founded by pastry chef Cheryl Koh, is one of life’s greatest culinary delights indulgences. And thank goodness she built it, because the menu here is more extensive, with cakes and cookies thrown in for good measure. In a year, Chef Cheryl was named ‘Asia’s Best Pastry Chef’ in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards in 2016. This retail concept, which emerged from a tiny den along the quaint corner street of the Shaw Centre, is as simple as its name – selling artisanal tarts and other confectioneries baked from scratch all day with only the best available ingredients sourced from around the world and rare to find in Singapore.
Delivery is charged $12 per location with a minimum order of $32 for delivery. There is free delivery for orders $120 and above for a single location.

4. Tong Heng
In Chinatown, there is a popular bakery that sells dairy-free diamond-shaped egg tarts in brightly colored packaging. Ana Fong, the bakery’s General Manager and 4th-generation successor, wants you to know that the brand is called Tong Heng. On Singapore’s food-crazed scene, this 100-year-old Cantonese pastry has been gaining a lot of attention. They have a wide selection of traditional pastries, including egg tarts, wife biscuits, and more! Their diamond-shaped egg tarts are commendable because of the smooth and silky custard with the perfect egg-to-sugar ratio. The tart’s flaky and light crust perfectly complements the custard. If you ordered takeaways, it is advisable to put them in the oven for a few minutes to allow the crust to re-bake into a delicious crust. With their honed skills and perfected recipe, it’s no surprise that every new batch of pastries is quickly devoured!

Lee’s Confectionery, the newest gem in Singapore’s west, is tucked away in a quiet Jurong East neighborhood. It’s a sight that would pique many people’s interest near the entrance of an HDB car park. Lee’s Confectionery isn’t just a pretty sight in Singapore’s west. Since opening the classy café, Lee Yin Quan has been operating as a one-man show, selling elegant patisseries made to order. Lee’s Confectionery has a small but mighty selection of pastries, with six on display and one or two new creations appearing now and then. It’s a promising indicator because a small menu indicates that each item has been well-thought-out and meticulously crafted.
