DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang features 316 spacious rooms and suites – the best ones being those with breathtaking views of the Malacca Strait. But then, if you are staying with the whole family, the resort’s Two Bedroom Family Suite is the most ideal choice. We stayed in one and it was amazing! The suite is incredibly spacious, especially the living room as the staff went above and beyond to make it more festive for the season. They set up a Christmas tree, a kid’s teepee tent, a hopscotch mat, and three oversized teddy bears that kept our little ones entertained for hours. The living room was so expansive that our little Aaron even managed to turn it into his personal football field!

Family-friendly amenities inside our hotel suite

Beyond the spaciousness, the suite is equipped with modern amenities and thoughtful touches, providing everything a family needs for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Another highlight was the window and balcony that overlooks to the beautiful Malacca Strait. It truly felt like a home away from home, even more so with the added special touches for the kids. 

2. Spend a full day under the sun

It is not a complete Penang trip without a trip to the beach! Luckily, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is located right along the scenic Batu Ferringhi coastline and just across from Miami Beach. In fact, you can easily access the beach from the hotel via a connected bridge! You can go back and forth in experiencing the waves as well as the modern comforts offered by your suite. The resort is also decently near to Batu Ferringhi beach – one of the best and most famous beaches in Penang.

3. Indulge in a blissful water paradise 

Not a fan of the beach? No worries, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang also offers tons of water activities without leaving the property. There is a large outdoor swimming pool with balls for the kids to play with. There is also a splash pool with a water playground for the kids, which had our little boy in love with the huge water buckets that come splashing on them.

4. Explore a Teddy Bear museum

DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is also well-known for having the Teddyville Museum. Here, life-sized and miniature teddy bears are creatively dressed and placed in intricate sets that showcase Penang’s rich culture and must-visit attractions. It is like exploring a cuddly, bite-sized guide to everything that makes Penang special—making it a hit with kids! Our little girl, Ally, absolutely adored the museum and even said that it was her favourite activity during our stay. We enjoyed it as adults as well, so this activity is perfect for both kids and adults alike, especially if you are a teddy bear enthusiast.

5. Start your fun-filled day with some good breakfast at Makan Kitchen

Great food equates to a great stay, and we were very happy that DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang satisfied our palates with the wonderful options they offered us from breakfast up to dinner. We started our days with a buffet breakfast at Makan Kitchen, and we can definitely say that the best of the lot was the dedicated noodle cooking station. The Prawn Mee Soup was so delicious! We also appreciated how the buffet features a kiddie section wherein they served old school biscuits and snacks. Really thoughtful!

For lunch, we highly recommend the Ikan Bakar lunch set, especially if you love spicy and tasty food. If we were to offer you advice, it is to try to not eat too much from the breakfast buffet so you can completely enjoy and feast on the lunch sets they have. The portions here at DoubleTree are so huge!

More delicious food for dinner

Looking for the perfect spot to unwind? The Axis Lounge at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is just the place. Whether you are in the mood for light snacks, a refreshing beer, a crafted cocktail, or a non-alcoholic beverage, this cosy lounge has something for everyone. We especially enjoyed their afternoon tea!

5. Go for indoor play at the Kids’ Club

Another highlight for our little ones was the Kids’ Club. It is just adjacent to the Makan Kitchen where we had our daily breakfast, so visiting the Kids’ Club was a staple every day. Our little ones enjoyed so much! Our little Ally especially loved the freedom to draw and express her creativity, guided by the kind and attentive staff who were always there to assist. Furthermore, the space is filled with toys, a big slide for added fun, and cosy wall nooks that are perfect for curling up with a book (can be for kids or adults looking after their children too!).

6. Elevate your stay with the signature hospitality of DoubleTree

Besides everything above, what truly sets DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang apart is its signature hospitality—a hallmark of the DoubleTree experience. Having stayed at other DoubleTree resorts before, we had high expectations, and this resort exceeded them in every way! The check-in process was seamless, and we were welcomed further with a delicious and warm toasty DoubleTree cookie which made a huge difference as we were tired from our travels.

Adding to the family-friendly bit, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang also offers a special kids’ check-in experience for the younger guests. This allows children to embrace the role of young travelers as they check in for themselves, giving them a sense of independence and added excitement. A really thoughtful and unique touch!

All in all, our stay at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is truly something to remember. Not only because we were able to bond here with the family, but with how they treated us with the hospitality DoubleTree is known for. From the thoughtful touches and surprises in our hotel suite to the countless family-friendly amenities, every detail was designed to make our experience special.
