Overlooking the majestic and jaw-dropping landscape of Mayon Volcano, Legazpi City is probably one of the more picturesque honeymoon destinations in the Philippines. Upon our arrival at Misibis Bay, we were greeted with an airy reception area with a huge wooden Christmas tree, a symbol of one of the liveliest events in the country known as the Yuletide season. Little did we know that there were so many exciting adventures that awaited us in Misibis Bay. 1. Stay in the Seaview Room for a scenic view daily

For a room with a perfect view, we recommend staying at the Seaview Room with floor-to-ceiling windows providing a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. A mere couple of steps away from the beach and ocean, one can take a dip in the beautiful crystalline waters any time of the day. Spacious with a generous bathtub, the Seaview Room is perfect for a hot bath for a good night’s sleep. Misibis Bay offers four distinctive room views: Garden View, Seaview, Pool View, and Beach View. 

2. Enjoy a private BBQ lunch at Pinaghulugan Beach

One of the best things we love about Misibis Bay is its activities. There was plenty to do, even slurping down delicious food was an activity in itself. From the resort, we took a speed boat to Pinaghulugan Beach where we spent a chilled, laidback afternoon having lunch under a small native cabana. Here, we indulged in grilled meat and seafood paired with sweet lemonade, sodas and beers.

We thoroughly enjoyed this private, serene island dining experience, and the bean bags lined up beside the cabana were the icing on the cake as we lounged and sipped our drinks while enjoying the sound of the waves.

3. Savour a romantic candlelight dinner under the stars

Having a romantic dinner under the starry night sky is probably one of the best experiences couples should have during their honeymoon. Imagine a candlelit setup with fancy lamp posts with the vast ocean and a full, glowing moon as a backdrop. Misibis Bay serves delectable dishes with a wide variety of meat, seafood, vegetables and fruits. Trust us when we say that the Philippines has great mangoes!

For astronomy enthusiasts, you guys are in luck. Misibis Bay boasts a telescope for moon gazing. We were blessed with clear skies on the night of our dinner by the shore, and we were able to see a pretty rare Venus-Jupiter conjunction. 

4. Embark on a magical underwater journey with an introductory dive

A treasure trove for divers and snorkelers alike, the marina bay in Misibis boasts a multitude of colourful fish, giant sea clams, and many other wonders of the sea life underwater. The pictures do not give justice to the real beauty of the place, might we add. Water clarity was great, and marine life in abundance. Qualified instructors are readily available to train you according to the highest safety standards, or to guide more experienced divers to explore underwater treasures at deeper depths.

5. Experience a thrilling off-road ATV ride with cocktails and a spectacular sunset at The Five Views

Challenge your better half whilst feeding your adventure-seeking spirit by embarking on an ATV expedition throughout the Island. Explore its hidden gems and get to see how the locals live while you pass by and make your occasional stop. Personally, we found this to be incredibly fun and probably one of the best ATV off-road rides we enjoyed. Some paths were a challenge to navigate with steeper slopes, and we definitely welcome a good challenge!

By the time you finish the off-road quest together, be prepared for an exciting surprise at The Five Views. This time, you get to gaze at the magnificent Mayon Volcano as the sun sets and savour your cocktails while sitting on those comfy bean bags yet again. The perfect ending to your off-road adventure before heading back to base.

6. Chase the magical sunset while cruising the island

Embarking on a local cruise during your stay is nothing short of spectacular. Sailing around the gorgeous Legazpi island is a romantic experience,  which will grant you both an insight on its unique beauty. We got to witness the local culture and daily activities by sea – students travelling by boat to schools, waving back at us when we crossed paths at sea. As breathtaking as the sunset was at The Five Views, catching this magical sight at the foot of Mayon Volcano during the Albay cruising has its own charm too.

7. Engage in exhilarating water activities

Set in a protected area enclosed by a reef, Misibis Bay offers a haven for water sports as you embark on countless activities such as jet skiing, banana boat rides, kayaking, stand-up paddling, windsurfing, and hobie cat sailing. All the staff in the recreational department were really friendly to us as they guided us patiently in the various water sports. Be sure to request for a more thrilling banana boat ride, if you wish to challenge yourselves on who can hang on for the longest time.

8. Unwind at Essenses Spa at Misibis Bay

With the extensive list of activities available at Misibis Bay, nothing beats a full body massage after a long day of fun yet tiring activities. For an added special treatment, we recommend the Mt. Mayon hot stone therapy massage for the ultimate relaxation.
