That said, it is always best to invest in a top-quality gaming chair (that may also double as an office chair) for improved performance and productivity. We have encountered tons of good reviews on Secretlab chairs, so it’s about time that we see and assess the multi-award-winning brand for ourselves. Read on and check our completely honest review of Secretlab chairs that have apparently taken the gaming world by storm.

So first, what is Secretlab? 

The idea of Secretlab sprang to the developers, Ian Chang and Alaric Choo, after their neverending search on a gaming chair that they were satisfied with. Their goal seemed big at first: to change the gaming industry with a chair that’s gorgeously made from the finest materials. A few years later, Secretlab is now the top choice for gamers and enthusiasts alike in over 50 countries. They offer a wide range of gaming chairs for different types of users and continuously grow as a company over time. 

Bestselling chairs from Secretlab

Titan and Omega are undoubtedly the most popular Secretlab chairs of all time. These two offers almost the same functionality and comfort.  It really just boils down to the height and weight limits of every chair. Titan is recommended for users with a height ranging from 170 to 200 cm and a weight of <130 kg. Meanwhile, Omega is for users with more petite size. 

The best of Secretlab in one chair: Titan Evo 2022 series

As of writing, Secretlab has recently launched the Titan Evo 2022 series. It is said to be the best of the Omega and Titan series, packed in a single gaming chair. The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is the most technologically advanced Secretlab chair to date – thanks to their $20m investment in R&D. Having heard this, we were eagerly anticipating the upgrades of this chair, and it definitely did not disappoint. Overall, we loved the improved ergonomics via their overhauled lumbar support system, their new sizes, as well as their incredible new-generation upholstery. But more on this later!

Award-winning comfort 

We buy gaming chairs for a reason, and we love how Secretlab engineers every chair with superior comfort in mind. Such comfort is mostly due to Secretlab’s signature patent-pending cold-cure foam mix. It is firm and maintains form for longer hours, which is likely the first thing you’d notice once you sit on the chair. The firm cushioning may seem uncomfortable at first, though it is designed to give added support to the user. It can evenly distribute your weight and relieve pressure during long hours of sitting.

For enhanced comfort, the Titan Evo 2022 series comes with magnetic memory foam pillows. This is probably our favourite feature, as the pillows are also filled with cooling gel for enhanced thermoregulation. We found the pillows ridiculously comfortable, and one of the best ergonomic head pillows around for sure. The previous Secretlab chairs also had this feature, but they were strapped onto the chair itself. Now, it is much more innovative and appealing to the eyes. 

Incredible support with personalised ergonomics

The new Titan Evo 2022 series boasts a built-in 4-way L-ADAPT™ Lumbar System. This means that the lumbar support can be adjusted to better align with your lower back and provide optimal support for your spine. It is quite an upgrade from its predecessors where you need to rely on external lumbar support or cushions to make long hours at your desk more bearable. Even your arms and wrists are well-supported by the full-metal 4D armrests.

Furthermore, Secretlab also introduces shorter hydraulics on smaller chair sizes, allowing more petite users to set their feet flat on the ground for an ergonomic position. 

If you want to stretch for a bit, you can do so with ease. Simply sit back, and a gentle curvature will guide you towards a healthy seating posture. Don’t get too comfortable while working though, as you can easily drift off to dreamland! We like how the Secretlab chair supports natural movements via a proprietary sculpted pebble seat base for greater sitting freedom. So if are someone who easily gets swayed during intense gaming sessions, the Titan Evo 2022 series is a good option for you.

Built for every size

What’s great about Secretlab is that they consider users of different sizes. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the Omega and Titan 2020 series have their individual recommended weight and height. And if you prefer a chair that’s more heavy-duty and spacious, they have the Titan XL 2020 series for you as well. It can carry a load up to 180 kg, which is way beyond the capacity of the usual ergonomic chairs you see in the market. 

Though the latest collection only consists of the Titan Evo 2022 series, we liked how they retained their sizing variations and even improved the maximum weight and height capacity. The Titan Evo is available in Small, Regular (sized between Omega and Titan), and XL. You can simply choose what fits you best, but if you can’t decide – we’d say go for the latter as it provides more room.

Stunning designs 

Secretlab chairs look like your ordinary ergonomic chair with an embossed logo and model symbol on the backrest. Plain and simple – that is, if you get them in signature Secretlab designs (i.e. Stealth, Classic, Black). In reality, multiple designs are available for every Secretlab chair. Secretlab has partnered with the biggest names in games, E-sports, and pop culture, to deliver you the most comfortable chairs with stunning designs. Some are available for a limited time only, so it adds great value to collectors. Besides the build quality, we think that the variety in designs is also what made Secretlab stand out from competitors.

If you are an e-sport player, you have probably heard of Secretlab already. They are, after all, the seat of champions. Just recently, they have released an exclusive chair for the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.

Luxurious feel of the new-gen Secretlab upholstery 

Now, let’s talk about the feel of a Secretlab chair. The newest TITAN Evo 2022 series can be upholstered with the Secretlab NEO™ Hybrid Leatherette – a new-generation premium leatherette that feels almost like Napa leather (twice the price!). It feels smoother and more luxurious than the polyurethane (PU) leather used in older models. Moreover, the premium leatherette is reported to be 12x more durable than regular PU leather. All while retaining the incredibly plush and supple feel! 

One of the downsides of getting a leather-upholstered chair is that it is prone to peeling. But of course, Secretlab already took care of that. With their up to 5-year Peel Protection Guarantee, you can worry less about the chair losing its quality. Unfortunately, the peeling guarantee is only available in Singapore for now. But we are hoping that they widen their coverage in the future! This is still different from the actual warranty that can also cover up to 5 years. We do think that the 5-year warranty is a bit short compared to others that can even last up to 12 years.

If you prefer fabric upholstery, Secretlab’s SoftWeave® Plus has also gotten an upgrade. It is now 3.5x stronger than before – even the seam strength is improved. We also found it to be softer and more breathable, which is great if you often feel hot and stuffy from working all afternoon. Although, if you really sweat a lot, an ergonomic chair with hybrid mesh upholstery will cool you much better. Try ErgoTune Supreme, for instance, or Herman Miller Aeron if you are a big spender.

Pricing

Secretlab chairs are not cheap, but not overly expensive as well. The price of TITAN Evo 2022 series starts at $519, and that’s just the smallest size in classic design. If you want to get the XL version, the cost is upped at $619 for the simplest chair.

The Secretlab chairs from 2020 series are priced a bit less, with Omega starting at $499. Titan XL, the most spacious chair from the previous collection, starts at $609. The thing is, nearly all the older chairs are out of stock, so most of the remaining products are much pricier than the base price. 

If you can’t afford a Secretlab chair on one go, you may always opt for instalment plans. Secretlab believes that it is much better to improve your seating experience earlier, so flexible payment options are offered.

Summary 

As you have probably noticed in this review, we are in love with Secretlab chairs, especially with the upgrades on their latest TITAN Evo 2022 series. Secretlab brings innovative (and highly useful) features to your regular ergonomic chair and provides countless options for design and upholstery. Truly, there’s a Secretlab chair for everyone – whatever your preferences may be.

Price-wise, Secretlab chairs are a bit expensive. Still, they are great value for money – and we all know how expensive ergonomic chairs can get. Secretlab chairs are a good investment for professionals working long hours in front of the PC or gamers wanting to feel like champions. But if you are just looking for a simple chair to ease your discomfort while working, you may consider cheaper alternatives. The Ergotune Classic is a good ergonomic chair to consider, though please do note of the sizing limit.

If you still prefer to get a Secretlab chair but find the latest model too expensive, you may opt for the Titan and Omega 2020 series. They offer the same superior comfort and quality (just less on the upgrades!) at a much lower price. However, the choices for design may not be as plentiful as before.

Verdict 

Based on our review of Secretlab chairs, the cons can be negligible as compared to the list of pros. We now understand the hype over these chairs, and it is no surprise that they have 1 million happy users by now. So we highly recommend Secretlab chairs if you have the budget. You should consider quality seating as an investment though, especially if you tend to spend most of your time sitting for work or play.
