Also called Old Phuket Town, it is home to the Chalong Temple (the largest in Phuket) and other shrines and museums. While it is generally a convenient base for first-time travellers, keep in mind that there are no beaches in the town itself. Travelling to the best beaches will take you around 30 minutes via taxi.
