11 Noteworthy Furniture Stores in Singapore for Your Dream Home Furnishings
1. Born in Colour, for trendy, ergonomically-designed furniture at an affordable price point
Established in 2014 to address a market gap, Born in Colour was introduced to the Singapore market, bringing about trendy yet functional and compact furniture well-fitted for Singapore homes with limited space. Since its birth, Born in Colour has expanded its range beyond its well-received Korean furniture designs, with varying designs ranging from vintage, Scandinavian, industrial, to modern contemporary. Best yet, their extensive range of furniture designs come with an affordable price tag, as they work directly with factories without going through distributors.
Born in Colour updates their collections every season so you can always look forward to new pieces and designs every now and then. One of our favourite collections is their Fika Swedish Collection, inspired by the 1950s mid-century interiors. With mahogany wood finish and simple, clean lines typical of Swedish designs, Fika series adds a welcoming atmosphere to a modern home. We especially love the Fika Swedish Dining Table which has a compartment underneath where you can keep and access your utensils easily. Brilliant stuff!
Their exclusive designer Bistro Rattan collection, on the other hand, offers the perfect pieces for a tropical home. With a natural green colour, handwoven rattan panels, brushed metal legs and gold caps, each furniture has a striking yet soothing design that is ideal as a statement piece for a contemporary house. The Bistro Rattan TV Console makes for an interesting contrast with a modern TV above it. With exquisite collections to select from, we are pretty sure you will find something beautiful to add life and colour to your home.

2. HipVan, for designer furniture at fair prices
HipVan is an e-commerce website that sells stylish designer furniture, homeware, and lighting products at honest, fair prices. They carry over 3,000 mindfully designed items – from exquisite herringbone acacia wood dining tables, premium cowhide leather sofas to luxurious pillow top mattresses and more, perfect for modern homes.
Our top picks were the dining table from their Cadencia collection and the LEVITATE mattress. The dark wooden herringbone pattern of the Cadencia table suited our modern luxe style to a tee, while the mattress was probably one of the most comfortable ones we have ever slept on. It also absorbs movement to ensure a sweet and deep slumber if you have a fidgety sleeper as a partner; this is useful as well whenever you do sleepovers. If you are one who needs to see and feel the items in person, head down to HipVan’s experience store at The Cathay!
Having matching furniture in the house can look exquisite, but be careful not to overdo it. Having too many statement pieces in each room may be an overkill, unless tastefully designed to create an overall cohesive look. Do consult your interior designer for a second opinion, if you have one.
HipVan was quite a great one-stop shop for us. Other than the Cadencia herringbone dining table and LEVITATE mattress, we got their storage bed frames, TV console, study desks, and outdoor furniture. The Isabelle storage bed frame exuded class in our master bedroom, while the Audrey storage bed frame made our guest room looked cosy. We decided to dial it down with the Lamont TV console, as it was in the same space as the herringbone dining table, which was quite the statement piece. Study desks were the Reth black walnut working desks by Laholm, while we went with the taupe Milton armchairs outdoor set for our balcony. Beautiful pieces, aren’t they?
Another good thing about HipVan – its free delivery and assembly (for orders above S$250, which is fairly easy to reach). IKEA does sell some beautiful furniture, but the assembling part can be tiring at times. Read more about HipVan here.
3. Simmons, for a rejuvenating sleep every night
Having gone through the entire home renovation process and staying at our new home for a couple of months, I would highly, highly recommend to allocate more budget to your bed. We spend one-third of each day sleeping after all, and a comfortable mattress definitely helps provide restful sleep.
9 out of 10 prestigious 5-star hotels in Singapore use Simmons mattresses, giving testimony to Simmons’ distinguished quality standard. With two main series featuring the latest of Simmons technology, namely Beautyrest® and BackCare®, rest assured that you will be able to find your dream mattress with your preferred firmness.
The Simmons BackCare® Luxury was our personal favourite out of the lot, featuring medium firmness and a super pillow top sleep surface finish. Add on a Beautyrest® NeckCare pocketed coil pillow, and you’ll probably be looking forward to sleeping every night! Read more on our experience with Simmons here.
If you have a considerable budget, the Simmons BackCare Luxury or the luxurious Beautyrest Black series would be top choices, providing unparalleled comfort. If budget is a concern, give the Beautyrest series a try. Here are some helpful tips adapted from Simmons’ mattress buying guide:
- Try the mattress with your partner (an average person tosses and turns 40 to 60 times a night)
- Try a maximum of three mattresses with different levels of firmness at any one time, preferably soft, medium, hard
- Lie down for a few minutes in your most common sleeping positions instead of sitting on the edge
- Mention any back pain issues to the sales consultants
- Choose a bed frame with a center support to prevent bowing in the middle of the bed
4. GROHE, for a luxurious bathroom
Bathrooms are probably one of the most important rooms in a home. Other than our bed, the bathroom is where we start and end each day. For many, their best inspiration strikes in the bathroom. It is also the one room that all guests visit, a great opportunity to wow them with clean, modern aesthetics.
It may sound like a dream to own a luxurious bathroom, but you can transform that dream into reality at the GROHE SPA Flagship Store. From showers and basin mixers to even shower toilets, rest assured that you will find the perfect solution for all your bathroom needs.
The new GROHE Atrio series has been created as an icon of elegance and precision. The design blends a slim cylindrical shape and a perfect semi-circle spout, making it stand out as a ‘piece of art’ within the bathroom. Both the signature cross ergonomic handle and elegant lever options add a luxurious touch to the bathroom. Furthermore, the new GROHE Atrio series is available in 2 finishes: StarLight Chrome and Matte SuperSteel; either option blends harmoniously into any bathroom design style.
If you are seeking inspiration for your next bathroom project, we definitely recommend checking out their flagship store located at Shaw Centre!

5. mc.2, for smart and customizable blinds and curtains
mc.2 is the first in the industry to come up with a smart blind fashion gallery in Singapore. In their 4,200 square feet gallery, mc.2 carries international premier brands such as Hunter Douglas, TOSO, RENSON, SQUID, Somfy, and many more. Their extensive collection ranges from smart motorised home solutions to their first homegrown smart zip blind, roller blinds, Venetian blinds, rainbow blinds, day curtains, and night curtains. With these smart functions, you can even control your smart blinds and curtains through voice recognition using Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
With a really wide spectrum of materials and styles available for blinds and curtains, on top of providing flooring, marbles, and wallpapers as well, mc.2 is not only able to complement your dream home’s theme, but to do so without breaking your budget. Their professional in-house consultants will also walk you through the entire process and provide a creative flair in terms of design.
What we loved the most about mc.2 was its curtain shaping technology. No matter how much we shift our ALTEX curtains, it always seems to fall back neatly in place. See a picture of our master bedroom below, I swear we didn’t arrange the curtains as our attention were on the creases of our bedsheet!
Some tips on selecting blinds and curtains:
- Leave the selection of blinds and curtains to the end when all of your furnishings and painting has been completed, so that you can select something that best complement your interior theme
- Plain blinds and curtains in terms of colour match the modern, contemporary theme best. Differentiate in terms of texture of the material to make it look luxurious
- Select cordless motorised blinds and curtains if you have kids or pets for safety purposes
6. Livingwithart Singapore Gallery, for exquisite artwork that brings your interiors to life
Art infuses life into homes, and has the ability to transform an otherwise plain-looking space into a mesmerising one with depth and contrast. We got the two art paintings above from Livingwithart Singapore Gallery, which stand out as the statement pieces in our living room.
Livingwithart Singapore Gallery is a haven for those looking for a wide variety of customised art pieces that fit and complement their interior decor perfectly. From hand-drawn wall paintings to art clocks and sculptures, their skilled in-house artists are proficient in customising the style, colour, and dimensions to fit your demands.
Art speaks to everyone differently, hence we would recommend heading down to Livingwithart Singapore Gallery’s showroom at Tan Boon Liat building to personally see which pieces resonate with you. We especially love their series art paintings on nature, having gotten a couple of them for our new home.
What stood out for Livingwithart Singapore Gallery was their ability to customise art pieces. If you fancy a certain piece but find it clashing in terms of colour, you may even request for the artist to change the colours to better complement your home. Brilliant, isn’t it?
7. Finn Avenue, for modern, luxurious furniture and home decor at a steal
Luxury for a steal – Finn Avenue’s tagline certainly lived up to its name. What enchanted us right from the start were their exquisite black and white marble furniture pieces with a splash of gold. Finn Avenue’s furniture range includes Chesterfield sofas, elegant coffee tables, mirrored furniture, with modern designer rugs, luxurious marble lamps, as well as designer cushions, wall mirrors, and decor items for furnishing. All tastefully curated for the modern day homeowner, yet without the hefty price tag that designer furniture commands.
Recreate an Upper East Side penthouse or a French Vintage villa look with Finn Avenue’s Shop Our Look collections. We got their popular Atlas White & Gold Marble coffee table on top of both black and white marble table lamps to complement with our modern luxe home decor. Get inspired by their Shop Our Look and recreate your own version of a Modern Luxe Home Design, an Upper East Side penthouse, or a French Vintage villa!
The home decor furniture pieces at Finn Avenue are drop-dead gorgeous. The black-gold, white-gold combinations add a luxurious touch to any home. For our master bedroom, we matched their black marble lamps with our black marble feature wall. Everything in their showroom exudes class yet without a hefty price tag, we highly recommend you visiting for inspiration at the very least.
8. The Cinnamon Room, for fully customizable contemporary cowhide rugs
Rugs – they add much style and flair to living spaces, but finding the one that complements your interiors perfectly isn’t exactly the easiest of tasks. Recently voted the Best Carpet and Rug Store in Singapore in Expat Living’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2019, The Cinnamon Room excels in producing unique contemporary rugs of the highest quality. What’s more, each rug is fully customizable as a bespoke piece for your modern home.
The creative force behind this noteworthy brand is founder Visha Nelson, who brought her wealth of experiences from living in New York, London, and Hong Kong back to Singapore, putting together a collection of stylish, luxurious, yet well-priced designs. What caught our eye were The Cinnamon Room’s popular metallic hide rugs. We had yet to see anything like these rugs in the market, and the designs fitted our modern luxe interiors to a tee. The best part? Maintenance of the rugs is easy. You can wipe off coffee or even red wine spillage with ease as the liquids do not seep into the hides!
Another commendable part of the award-winning hide rugs is that they are ethically sourced from working farm animals from South America and India, something that we appreciate very much in businesses. With Visha’s expertise and personalised level of service, we dare say you are in good hands.
9. Cellini, for modern and contemporary furniture collections
If you are a fervent supporter of local brands, check out Cellini for modern and contemporary furniture pieces. Founded in Singapore in 1986, the brand boasts several stylish, complementary furniture collections. We found their home packages to be at a great price point for quality furniture.
We ended up purchasing the Concerto 3-seater recliner sofa, which we were on the fence for initially. The sofa was really comfortable and you could recline it any angle with its motorised mechanism, as we envisioned creating a GV Gold Class movie experience in our living room. The light grey neutrals were also a great match for our modern luxe theme with darker walls as well. In the end, Cellini’s 32nd anniversary sale pushed us towards a yes.
10. Kitchen Culture, for possibly the most elegant kitchens you’ve seen
We had to include Kitchen Culture in this list of 9. Playing around on their website and getting inspirations for kitchens was a joy for us, even if we did not know how much it costs. Every kitchen on their website was modern, classy, futuristic. Simply mind blowing. It probably will burn a big hole in your pocket, but well, if you are a kitchen lover, why not!
11. Crate & Barrel, for contemporary furniture with sophisticated designs
What we love about Crate & Barrel, apart from its modern, contemporary furniture, housewares and decor, is its environmental commitment. With timber as one of its key raw materials, they work closely with the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) for their wood and plant-based products. With a huge retail store at ION Orchard, you’ll be sure to find anything that you need from furniture, bedding and bath accessories, dinnerware, cookware, decor, and many more!
That’s it from us! We hope you found our furniture stores recommendations useful; these were probably the 9 furniture stores that left the biggest impression on us in our home renovation journey. Do drop us a message if you have any questions, or share it with your friends embarking on their home renovation journey. Hopefully it sparks some inspiration on your end!
