Refresh your Senses at The Balé, Minimalist & Stylish Living in Bali, Indonesia

Bali is one of our favourite honeymoon destinations in SouthEast Asia. Ever since we visited Nusa Dua, the Southern part of Bali on our previous trip, we were hooked. This hotbed of luxurious resorts presents a honeymoon haven for couples who are looking for extra indulgence and pampering. This time we decided to search for something a little different than the usual ‘Bali’ experience we’re used to. We discovered The Balé.

Managed by Lifestyle Retreats, The Balé is a unique gem in Bali. The estate features architecture and lifestyle that is ‘one of a kind’. One that seems to be more Japanese-inspired instead of Indonesian. Suitable for those in search of a private and secluded retreat, this honeymoon retreat is for couples to relax without a care in the world and come out feeling refreshed and renewed. Featuring just 26 immaculately designed pavilions, holistic spa treatments, well-being programs and fresh organic produce – this is the perfect place to reconnect yourselves without distractions from the outside world. Read on to discover what’s in store for your honeymoon here.

7 Reasons to have a Honeymoon at The Balé, Bali

1. Zen-like Japanese-inspired living

A complete contrast to the usual Balinese decor you find in Bali resorts, The Balé instead features a striking minimalist design for a refreshing experience. With plenty of clean-cut white stone and wooden screens, The Balé is not your typical Bali resort. That is not to say that it does not do luxury and personalized service because it does… each pavilion is accompanied with 24-hour butler service!

Designed and built with serenity and minimalism in mind, the resort is overall stylish and modern. Its Zen-like buildings of pale brick and glass exude an earthy and relaxing vibe, paired perfectly with the serenity and peace that we enjoyed – thanks to the no children policy. Our stay here felt very zen throughout. A stay here is perfect for romantic retreats in search of serenity and love… did I mention there’s an outdoor shower?

2. Luxe & spacious pavilions

The estate houses 26 pavilions, each set within its own walled compounds hiding its own well-manicured lawn and private swimming pool. Surprisingly, the walls do not feel claustrophobic at all, thanks to the spaciousness that each pavilion enjoys. The single pavilion measures at 240 sqm, double pavilion at 480 sqm and the deluxe single ranges from 350 to 480 sqm. The privacy that we enjoyed from the walls definitely deserves an extra mention. It was also an interesting feeling… knowing that you can look out but others can’t look in.

Though furnished to a minimum, you will find that most of the essentials are present. With a focus on space, our roomy pavilion left us with a carefree, ‘no-clutter’ feeling. Our stay here was refreshing, and relaxation certainly came easy here.

3. Walk from your bathroom straight to your pool

The roomy bathroom that led me straight to my pool was one of the reasons why I found it so difficult to leave come checkout day. Immediately after changing my your swimwear, I stepped right out the full-length windows to find myself drifting in my very own private pool. Taking dips in the pool had never been this easy.

The Balé also has two main swimming pools that you can chill and relax in the sun on their in-water lounge chairs.

If you are looking to get a beach tan, though not the main attraction, the beach and Indian ocean is only minutes away. You can take a short 15-minute walk or simply request for a free ride from reception. You will find yourself relaxing at the Beach Club at Geger Beach, exclusive only to guests of The Balé.

4. Let your taste buds take a dive

Tapa Bistro

The Balé is home to three restaurants – Bliss Restaurant, Faces Restaurant, and TAPA Bistro. At Bliss Restaurant, located at The Spa, you can enjoy meals made with healing herbs that are grown locally by loving hands. Light, nutritious and healthy snacks are the highlights of the menu. Here, you are what you eat. The selection of nourishing dishes and drinks are crafted for the beauty of the soul and health of the body.

Faces Restaurant

The highlight of Faces Restaurant is the open kitchen that gently arouses your senses with inviting smells of fresh brews and baked goodies during breakfast time. Later in the day or evenings, dive your tastebuds right into modern Mediterranean and Indonesian cuisine, or high-quality seafood. All this, right by the poolside. In addition, going off-menu is an option here too. You can request for dishes to be tailor-made to suit your fancy or inspiration.

5. Let your hair down at TAPA Bistro

6. Revitalize your senses with a healing touch

At The Balé, wellness is of focus. At The Spa, You can select from a wide array of treatments that include yoga, pranayama, healing massages, energy treatments, water therapy, chakra healing, wellness programmes, and even full-on detoxification for a healthy holiday. Additionally, you can enjoy Martial Arts and Tai Chi from one of the personal trainers. Surrender yourself completely to their stress-reducing offerings in their calming ambience, and come out of it feeling renewed and recharged.

7. A honeymooner’s paradise

The Balé is a honeymooner’s haven. Apart from personalized touches like 24-hour butler service, you can also request to arrange for a romantic dinner for 2 right in your own pavilion. Spend the evening feasting on barbecue delights paired with wine. Enjoy reconnecting with each other over good food and happy conversation.

Sign up for a Balinese cooking class to put your culinary skills and teamwork to the test! Whether you cook back at home or not, we do recommend couples to try out the cooking class for it is a wonderful bonding activity. Using an incredible variety of spices, fresh vegetables, meat and fish, whip up your very own Balinese creations with the guide of an experienced chef.
