Best Luxury Hotel Suites in Malaysia
1. Bayu Family Suite, Tanjung Rhu Resort
Indulge in the best sunsets from a beachfront resort in Langkawi
Who does not want to spend a holiday by the sea? If you want to experience one of Langkawi’s breathtaking private beaches right from your doorstep, look no further than Tanjung Rhu Resort, nestled within Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark. A secluded beachfront paradise, this 5-star resort allows you to simply indulge in the little things at the beach and have a fantastic time with your loved ones. Not only can you swim and play by the shore, but also enjoy a mesmerising view that extends to nearby islands, dramatic limestone cliffs, and even a national park in Thailand! Sunsets from this resort are also incredible. You will see the sky as it transforms into a canvas of fiery oranges, soft pinks, and deep purples – the best way to end each day in paradise!
Families visiting Tanjung Rhu Resort can book their Bayu Family Suite, which can comfortably accommodate up to 5 guests. Fitted with hardwood floors, this luxury hotel in Malaysia has French windows that open to enchanting views of the garden, pool, or sea while the elegant decor showcases the best of Asian influences. It really is designed with families in mind since our kids had plenty of space to run around during our stay. The suite is also equipped with modern conveniences, including high-speed Wi-Fi, plush bedding for a restful night’s sleep, and a minibar stocked with refreshments to enjoy at your leisure. One unexpected highlight? The massive LG TV in the living room! It added a fun touch to our stay, perfect for cosy family movie nights—a rare treat in most resorts.

2. Two Bedroom Family Suite, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang
Experience DoubleTree’s signature hospitality for the whole family
Penang is even more beautiful when you visit it with your family. We did just that and stayed in a Two Bedroom Family Suite at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang and it definitely did not disappoint. As we have been to a few DoubleTree resorts before, we already knew what to expect, but the signature hospitality they provided us here at Penang is simply one for the books. From the seamless check-in and the toasty welcome cookie to all the thoughtful touches they provided inside our hotel suite, we were treated to such an exceptional stay.
The Two Bedroom Family Suite was incredibly spacious. In the living room, they set up a Christmas tree, a kid’s teepee tent, a hopscotch mat, and three oversized teddy bears that kept our little ones entertained for hours. The space was so vast that our little Aaron turned it into his personal football field! We also fell in love with this luxury hotel suite’s private balcony, which offered stunning views of the Malacca Strait. It was the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Penang!
Kid-friendly amenities designed for family bonding
Not only can you soak in the stunning sea views, but you can also experience the waves up close at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. The resort has a dedicated bridge connected to Miami Beach, so it is easy for everyone to travel back and forth from the beach to their hotel suite. If the open waters are not your thing, the resort has plenty of alternatives to keep the kids happy. The large outdoor swimming pool, splash pool, and playground promise hours of endless fun, complete with toys like balls and buckets to keep everyone engaged.
For indoor play, the resort’s Kids’ Club is a must-visit! Head to the club right after your daily breakfast (which includes a kiddie section too!) and treat your little ones to various toys, slides, and cosy wall nooks for reading books. If you can, drop by Teddyville Museum too, which consists of both life-sized and miniature bears that both adults and kids will surely enjoy!

3. Presidential Suite, Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel
A quiet and upscale haven amid the hustle and bustle of Johor Bahru
A quick getaway to Johor Bahru could either mean going on a food trip, a shopping escapade, or a fun-filled adventure at the iconic tourist spots in the area. However, if you seek serenity amid the city’s hustle and bustle, a stay at the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel is a must. Nestled in this vibrant travel destination, the hotel offers a luxurious 5-star experience that brings the best of Malaysia within easy reach. We like how the hotel is located away from the city’s centre, providing a peaceful retreat from the urban chaos and heavy traffic of central JB. Inside the hotel, discover beautifully appointed rooms and suites adorned with stylish furnishings, plush bedding, modern bathrooms, and 24-hour room service.
For an elevated experience, treat yourself to the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel’s very own Presidential Suite, offering spacious comfort and refined elegance. Unwind in the bathroom features a refreshing rain shower with excellent water pressure and an elegant bathtub ideal for unwinding. The plush beds are complemented by thoughtful touches from the staff, such as beautiful flower and towel arrangements, enhancing the overall comfort of your stay. And of course, you can never go wrong with a spectacular city view right from your luxury hotel suite! You can see the whole of JB from here, as well as the hotel’s iconic pool which we also enjoyed very much.
Lots of dining options to choose from
After a busy day of business, shopping, or sightseeing in JB, treat yourself to a culinary experience at the Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel’s exquisite restaurants and bars. Chinese dinner at Wan Li Restaurant was probably one of the highlights of our trip. We were thoroughly impressed with the chef’s recommendations, including the Steamed Pontian Pomfret, Crispy Baked Sea Prawns with Avocado and Homemade Creamy Egg Sauce, and the Cantonese Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs. Peking Duck is available too and it is highly popular, so be sure to reserve that in advance if you want to try. Our favourite from the lot, though, was the Crispy Atlantic Cod Fillet with Golden Garlic and Superior Soya Sauce, which was so good that we had to order a second serving. The cod fish crust was so crispy, while the fish was so tender and tasty – truly the best dish from the menu, hands down! For dessert, the Chilled Mango Puree (one of the best purees we have tried, thanks to its texture!) and Crispy Durian Tempura is a must-try.
For breakfast, Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel offers a decent selection that includes local favourites like Lontong and Nasi Lemak. Fresh juices and a variety of fruits are also available, with the option to have fruits freshly cut upon request. We enjoyed having dragon fruit from the basket sliced to perfection! And since Johor Bahru is known for its wide variety of restaurants, you may also opt to visit some nice cafes nearby for delicious meals and picturesque settings perfect for IG. We highly recommend the Rowan & Parsley Food Atelier, just a 10-minute drive away from Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel.

13. Writers Suite, Eastern & Oriental Hotel (Penang)
Widely revered as the grande dame of heritage hotels, the Eastern & Oriental Hotel is definitely one of the best places to visit when you are in Penang. Established in 1885, this hotel has represented Penang in many ways since then, but still, its elegance remains. If you have the capacity to, we highly recommend staying at a Writers Suite, an extremely spacious and opulent accommodation with an expansive balcony that opens to a breathtaking sea view. Guests will also experience nostalgia for the colonial era in Penang, as the suite also features natural wooden floors, oriental furnishings, a vintage-style claw and ball long bath, and other antique furniture.
