7 Reasons to stay at Kurumba Maldives for a Tropical Honeymoon
1. Whisk yourselves away to paradise
The moment we arrived in Malé, we were greeted with the typical city bustle – lots of chatter, background sounds, and crowds. Having been to the Maldives twice, we knew it would not be easy to get around amid eager tourists and busy locals. Thankfully, Kurumba Maldives arranged a speedboat to take us away to the promised paradise. As we got on the boat, I could not stop the song ‘Heaven is a place on earth’ from popping into the back of my mind.
A short 10 minutes later, we arrived. It was surprising that a short boat ride led us from a busy city to a serene tropical island. The tranquil atmosphere was instantly refreshing. Their 24-hours boat transfer made the transfer process seamless, regardless of what time you arrive.
2. Experience all-inclusive luxury & heartwarming service
The moment we arrived on the island, we were greeted with smiling faces and welcome drinks. The cooling coconut sorbet and refreshing cold towel made a delightful welcome. Kurumba means coconut in Dhivehi, the Maldivian language. As we were ushered to the check-in counter, we learned that to make every guest feel at home, over 11 languages are spoken on the island!
To make your honeymoon vacation fuss-free, Kurumba Maldives has designed all-inclusive packages to make your vacation seamless, comfortable and of better value. You can choose from one of their 4 packages – half-board (US$65++), full-board (US$85++), full-board (US$115++) all inclusive or dine-around all inclusive (US$145++) here. Rates quoted are for each night.
The Dine-around all-inclusive covers your lunch in one of 3 restaurants, and dinner in one of 8 restaurants on the island. You also get a selection of cocktails, beers, wines, and liquors to complete the experience. Plus you get an excursion included, and you can choose from Snorkelling Safari, Malé Tour or Glass Bottom Boat. If you are staying for 4 nights, you even get complimentary laundry service for up to 25 pieces. Making your honeymoon experience seamless and leaving you feeling pampered is Kurumba’s mission, so you can enjoy your time at the resort fully. Kurumba Maldives also has a honeymoon package that you will want to check out (it includes a Balinese massage for 2!).
3. Indulge in luxury beachside living
Kurumba Maldives is set in a tropical island setting, with coconut trees on the island fringes. Each room, villa or residence is special in its own way. With 8 different room/villa categories to choose from, you might just be spoilt for choice.
The most extravagant villas on the island are the 2-bedroom Royal Kurumba Residence (768sqm) and the 1-bedroom Presidential Pool Villa (306 sqm). With a spacious and luxurious setting coupled with lavish interiors and 24-hour butler service, these villas are a dream holiday home come to life. All rooms on the is and are designed to have spacious bathrooms, an outdoor shower, a walk-in wardrobe and deliciously scented signature coconut bath amenities. Rooms are elegantly styled in natural woody tones to give you a tropical island touch.
If you love waking up to sounds of the ocean waves, I would suggest staying at the Beachfront Deluxe Bungalow (74 sqm). Your private balcony faces the sea and gives you direct access to the beach. Couples looking for more privacy can opt for the Garden Private Villa (124 sqm). You can enjoy sunbathing in your very own garden pool. The Beach Villa with Jacuzzi (103 sqm) is a great in-between the two, as it comes with your own private jacuzzi, yet you are only steps away from the sandy shores.
4. Experience a plethora of cuisines & dining experiences on the island
It is impressive how many dining options and experiences Kurumba Maldives has in store. The island is home to a melting pot of cuisines, with unique offerings like Indian, Middle Eastern, and even Thai cuisine that I do not often see elsewhere! Each of the island’s restaurant features a different cuisine complemented with interiors that match. Feel your taste buds come alive with the flavourful dining experiences prepared for you.
For international cuisine, head over to Vihamanaa, a modern buffet restaurant where you can easily whisk in and out at your convenience. Thila, a contemporary grill restaurant, welcomes your morning with a premium ala-carte breakfast, a scrumptious continental buffet on the side, and champagne! I could not possibly say no to that! Come evening at Thila, you can delight in earthy Maldivian grills. Choose to seat perched over the ocean on the boardwalk or have sand in your toes on the beach. Watch the stunning sunset as you taste the freshness of the seafood, or sweetness of the decadent desserts.
Japanese food lovers must not skip a visit to Hamakaze. This playful Teppanyaki restaurant serves up colourful sushi and sashimi platters and makes for a lively and fun overwater dining experience. Al Qasr serves up unique middle eastern specialties, and you can look forward to charcoal grilled meats, juicy kebabs, mezze, intriguing dips. A selection spanning Tunisian, Lebanese and Moroccan delicacies will have your mouth watering throughout. Mahal is an Indian restaurant featuring authentic recipes from Northern and Southern India. For those who love savory Indian food, this is your spot to get extensive Thali’s, vegetarian dishes, bright tandooris, rich curries, buttery naan and syrupy desserts.
Khing Thai is where you will discover authentic Thai flavours. Embark on a delightful and unforgettable culinary journey with their blend of sweet and savory accented with aromatic spices that define traditional Thai cuisine. For Italian cuisine, head to Isola, for they whip up the best traditional Italian dishes with a twist. Their contemporary setting allows for a relaxed dining experience.
5. The best island life you can have
On top of the remarkable dining experiences, Kurumba Maldives has made it super easy for you to chill and unwind at their stylish beach and sunset bars – Athiri and Kandu. At night, the island becomes even more vibrant with live music and night entertainment for you to showcase your dance moves. They even have a Shisa lounge, Fez – the first we have heard of! You can also hop on a boat and go for a sunset dolphin cruise, or experience wine-tasting in the lagoon. Click here for the full list of excursions. There are also cooking demonstrations and a cocktail masterclass that you can sign up for!
Scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, stand-up paddling, and kayaking are just some of the activities you can enjoy for an active day under the sun. The team at Kurumba Maldives places a lot of thought and effort into creating these remarkable experiences and activities for their guests. It jazzed up our vacation and left us with so many memorable experiences. We had an incredible time. Several couples we met on the island were returning guests, and it was no surprise to us! Considering the great time we were having, we definitely wanted to come back.
6. Experience total bliss at Veli Spa
Set in the lush gardens of the island, Veli Spa is a place of total relaxation and bliss. For those who know me, I cannot resist a good spa when on a vacation, and it was the same at Kurumba Maldives.
Knowing that Veli Spa’s treatments are inspired by the solace of the Maldives islands, the balance of the ocean, and the energy and healing effects of nature and the human touch, I was intrigued to see how it all came together as an experience. True enough, the session was peaceful and zen, yet somehow refreshing and energizing. It was also nice to have the resort’s familiar coconut scent present, with its essential oils derived from fresh local coconuts.
For a bespoke treat, Spa under the Stars is an experience you will never forget. Enjoy a couple spa session in a stunning outdoor setting. Lay on the pavilion and be surrounded by the lapping Indian ocean waves and the sunset sky. Feel warm Maldivian coconut oil glide your skin as your therapist massages you to soothe away any tension in your body. Be swept away in total harmony as you hear the sound of the ocean and smell the scent of the fresh ocean breeze. The spa session comes complete with champagne and chocolate dipped fruits and a star-gazing session.
It felt surreal to be on this island. You are surrounded by some of the best things nature has to offer – its turquoise blue waters, diverse marine life, white sandy shores, lush greenery, picturesque views and rich sunsets. Coupled with the rich dining experiences, romantic, fun activities and the warm hospitality that Kurumba Maldives has – your honeymoon is going to be simply unforgettable.
