As we decked most of our home in Hipvan furniture, it comes as no surprise that Hipvan is one of our favourite furniture stores in Singapore. It has a great online shopping experience. Their neat web design makes it easy for navigation. They display their affordable yet stylish furniture with well-lit photos and clear information such as measurements and warranty. From sofas to accent chairs, dining tables to shelves, even home decor to lighting, Hipvan has every room in your home covered. Hipvan also retails a range of premium mattresses at very reasonable prices. Hipvan provides free delivery and assembly above $250. Cellini’s furniture selection is modern and classy, perfect for the contemporary look, making it another one of our favourite furniture stores to shop at. Since 1986, this home-grown Singapore brand has been designing and making their own furniture, bringing you timeless furniture pieces that are made with quality craftsmanship. We can vouch for their quality, for we visited many of their showrooms before purchasing the Concerto Leather Motorised Recliner Sofa. If you want furniture that will last decades before having to switch, Cellini is your pick. Despite having 7 showrooms around the island, their online store is well-stocked and easy to shop on. They also retail their own branded Nightingale mattresses.

Nook & Cranny is an online furniture store that aims to curate pieces that allow homeowners to reflect their individualities. I particularly fancy Nook & Cranny’s leather furniture. They have a refurbished, worn-out look to them, fitting for industrial home styles. They also retail a Chinese antique collection, which can add a unique touch of personality into your living space. Mix and match their pieces to your heart’s delight!

Castlery’s aim is simple. To cut out the middleman and extend the savings to the customer. That being said, quality is not compromised, for they are cutting out the retail markups and not on materials and workmanship. They take much pride in their designs and manufacturing. As an online furniture store, navigation is seamless, the furniture selection is great, and you get free delivery for orders above $300, plus easy 30-day returns. If you are an OCBC, UOB or Amex cardholder, you can opt to pay by interest-free instalments for orders above $500. They too have studios at Jit Poh building and Grandstand.

Comfort Furniture is another popular option for couples seeking out trendy furniture pieces at affordable prices. When we visited their 32,000 sq ft showroom at Eunos over the weekend, it was packed with couples and families! Luckily, you can choose to browse and purchase their furniture online. Their site is functional and easy to use, though in-stock items are limited. You can browse by collections, and they also have some original designer pieces that are pretty unique.

How to finance your furniture shopping?
Depending on the brands you purchase, the average cost of furnishing your home is about $10,000 – $15,000. If you need to take up a loan to finance your purchase, renovation loans often do not give you the cash upfront, hence you are not able to use it for furniture shopping. You might wish to consider a personal loan instead. Do note that personal loans have slightly higher interest rates than renovation loans, but you get the cash flexibility. Our friends at Singsaver have compiled the best renovation loans and personal loans for you to check out.
When shopping for your home, do keep in mind to prioritize and focus on the essentials first. Leave the ‘nice-to-haves’ for later, for it’s best to not spend beyond your means. When buying your furniture, we also suggest using credit cards that give you rebates, so you get extra savings. Every little bit of savings can go a long way!
